About Porter's

School History and Archives

Archives

The purpose of the Miss Porter’s School Archives is to collect, arrange, and preserve all records, documents, and memorabilia relating to the history of the school. The Archives makes these materials available to the various departments of the school, and when possible, to scholars, historians, alumnae, and others interested in aspects of secondary education for young women, events in the school’s history, or in individuals connected in some way with Miss Porter’s School.

The Archive houses an incredible collection of school records and memorabilia from the 1840s through the present. If you are interested in donating any items to the archives, please email communications@missporters.org with a detailed description of the item/s you are interested in giving to the school. While we are not able to accept every gift we are offered, we will do our best to make room for your item/s.

If you are interesting in doing academic or scholarly research in the archives in the hope of publishing your work, please contact us to set up an appointment. Boarding schools are busy places, but we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Appointments are generally made during the regular school year from late September through late April when possible.
