Application Process
Admission to Porter's is selective. Applicants are accepted to grades nine through 12 on the basis of demonstrated intellectual curiosity, academic achievement, community involvement and extracurricular activity, and leadership. These are determined by school records, teacher recommendations, test results, personal essays, and an interview. Porter's also actively seeks to enroll students from a variety of backgrounds, whose unique perspectives and experiences enrich life at the school.

The Admission team has created an independent school admission timeline to help guide you through the application process. This step by step guide can be accessed on the Admission Timeline page.

The Application
Online applications are encouraged. Please proceed to the Porter’s online application by clicking on the link to the right. We also accept online applications from SSAT and TABS along with the Common Application Supplement.

We appreciate your efforts to complete all of the requirements for your application by the January 15 deadline. Admission decisions will be made available online on March 10 for all completed admission applications and their supporting documents received by January 15. Applications submitted after the January 15 deadline will be given consideration if space permits; however, financial aid is usually not available after March 10. We look forward to considering your application.

Online Application Checklist
To help make the application process as simple as possible the Admission Office assigns all candidates who requested information for the upcoming admission year a user name to access their Porter’s account that includes an online application checklist and online access to the candidate’s admission decision on March 10. Each candidate will be assigned  a user name by Porter's of their legal first and last name followed by the expected year of graduation (ex. Jane Doe is applying for entrance to 9th grade for the fall of 2017. Jane's user name will be janedoe21). All parent(s)/guardian(s) will either create or be assigned by Porter's their own user name. Once logged in, parent(s)/guardians(s) first click on a tab with their daughters name in order to access the checklist or application. This is because a parent/guardian may have more than one daughter applying to Miss Porter’s School.

Log on to your account and click on the Admission Progress tab to view the candidate’s application checklist. If you will be submitting the Porter’s application, simply click on Fill Out to activate Porter’s application online. The checklist should be reviewed and checked regularly. Each item on the checklist will have a green check mark next to the item once application materials have been received and processed. Applications and supporting application materials are processed in a timely manner. Processing may take several weeks from December through January when volume is high.

Online Decision
On March 10 each candidate that completed an application will be notified of their decision online through their account.
