Equestrian Team Makes Porter's History

2/2/2010
On January 30 and 31, six members of Porter's equestrian team competed at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) show, held at the Avon Valley Show Stables. Strong performances by all Porter's riders led to a 3rd place finish out of 12 teams, and earned the Porter's team enough points to advance to the IEA Regional Championships for the first time in school history.

Every competing member of Porter's team earned ribbons at the IEA show. Team members included: Avery Breneiser '10 - 6th place, Varsity Open Flat; Shana Coffey '13 - 2nd place, Varsity Intermediate Over Fences; Maria Gustaferro '13 - 3rd place, Junior Varsity Novice Flat and 4th place, Junior Varsity Over Fences; Mallori Inzinga '13 - 1st place, Varsity Intermediate Over Fences and 3rd place, Varsity Intermediate Flat; Tessa Menatian '13 - 4th place, Junior Varsity Beginner Flat; and Julia Wilcox '10 - 6th place, Varsity Intermediate Flat.

In recognition of their achievement, the entire equestrian team was honored on February 1 as Porter's Athletes of the week. The team will compete at the IEA Regional Championships, to be held February 27 at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, Mass.
