JV Field Hockey wins on home turf against Farmington High School.
With a team of 17-strong, the JV Field Hockey team dismissed the rain and brought sunshine to Oaklea Field yesterday. In a tight game with excellent play, Porter's owned the 1 - 0 win with skill, determination, and outstanding communication. Staying ahead of the play and prepared at goal was tri-captain Priyanka Tomar '19, who tipped in the winning shot. Tomar was assisted by tri-captain Caroline Ma '19, and tri-captain Claire Golder '19. Behind that leadership line-up was Georgia Finely '22, playing with strength and finesse, Nia Carroll '22 a formidable sweeper pairing perfectly with Lily Jenden '22, and Charis Ng '20 in center midfield. Speed and endurance came from the versatile play of Lydia Woodworth '21, and the equally flexible play of Sophie Schaeffer '21. Newcomers Reina Salama '22 and Jessica Hua '22 stepped into competition with confidence and courage, using their field-sense and stick skills to stave-off their Farmington opponents. Elisa Apfel '21, Emi Alazraki-Reynes '21, and Annabel Adeyeri '22 played with heart, soul, grit, and absolute resolve. Finally, none of this could have happened without our courageous goalkeeper: Soleil Lech '22!
Special thanks to Bunny Rutledge '20 for keeping the team warmed-up and ready for action! Player of the Game Award is shared by Priyanka Tomar '19 and Nia Carroll '22. Great start, JV! GO PORTER'S!
