JV Volleyball Loses to Greenwich Academy

JV Volleyball lost its third game of the season, dropping the match to a talented Greenwich Academy squad. Due to injuries, Porter’s brought up two players from Thirds, Darian Gordon ’20 and Ava Forand ’21, and both played very well; Gordon and Forand both filled in on the front line, hitting, moving around the court, and communicating very well. This all despite working in a rotation that was unfamiliar to them. Additionally, Maddie Guilmartin ’21 played the best game of her career at Porter’s, serving accurately, moving around the court with tremendous fluidity, and hitting with sensational strength and precision. Captains Carolyn Nida ’19 and Alexia Cusano ’20, besides playing well, kept the team positive and focused despite Porter’s being down. The entire team deserves to be commended for refusing to lay down after dropping two hard-fought sets. Porter’s made Greenwich fight for every point, and while Porter’s lost in the end, the team should remarkable grit and determination. Coaches Gene Cassidy and Alysa Auriemma are extremely proud of the progress the team has made and the resilience they showed on Saturday!
