Senior pitcher Jess Sardilli gave up singles to the first two Kent batters of the game which led to two first-inning runs. From there she pitched an impressive six straight shutout innings with seven strikeouts, giving Porter's every chance to come back. Unfortunately, Kent's pitcher Teagan Graham was just as good, striking out fourteen with no walks.
Porter's managed four hits in the game, including two more sharp singles by Morgan Pickett ('20). Our lone run came in the sixth inning when Jenna Hall ('20) tripled to the wall in left center with one out and came home on a rare wild pitch. After two strikeouts in the seventh, Pickett kept hope alive with her second single, but Graham slammed the door with a third strikeout. This was a crisp, fast-moving, well-played softball game. Porter's was sharp in the field, for the most part, including two nice catches in right field by Natalie Brennan ('20).
