JV Founder's Championship

Ten members of the Miss Porter's School Track & Field team traveled to Trinity Pawling for the JV Founder's Championship on Wednesday May 15th.  A season of hard work paid off as every athlete had strong performances and every track athlete achieved a personal best.  That included Ruth Torrence '21 with a 2nd place finish and a personal best time of 6:12 in the 1500 meters. Torrnece also placed 2nd in the long jump. Amelia Zhao '19 with a personal best time of 6:41 in the 1500 meters and a season's debut in the Javelin. In the 100 meters, Mariela Vazquez '21 and Essence Johnson '22 ran personal bests with times of 15.1 and 15.3 seconds respectively. Johnson also earned a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 32.6 and Vazquez earned a personal best in the discus with a throw of 46 feet 3 inches. In the 800 meters, Angela Yuan '21 and Ellie Rutledge '22 ran personal bests  of 2:55 and 3:02 respectively. In the field events, Rania Notowidigdo '21 threw 50 feet for a personal best in the javelin.  Whit Brown '22 earned 1st place honors in the triple jump and 3rd place in the long jump. Alexia Sanabria '20, and Ellie Zhou '22 also had strong performances. This was the last competition for these athletes this spring and they should each be proud of their hard work and growth during the 2019 Track & Field season.
