Porter's posts a strong season-opener against Farmington High School!
Porter's JV Field Hockey played an exceptional first game today against a deep JV team from Farmington High School. Under sunny skies and afternoon temps well into the 80s--and add ten degrees to that on the turf!--Porter's brought their best to Oaklea Field. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Akomolafe '23 stepped into the cage for the very first time two days ago. Today, she played like a pro! The two goals that snuck over the line were nearly indefensible, and Elizabeth can be proud of the way she defended her position and protected her team. Standing ahead of Akomolafe in dynamic play, Co-Captain Lily Jenden '22 and defender Lucy Marshall '23 pressed and dismissed the Farmington High School offensive line. Moving toward center, Angela Royle '23, Reina Salama '22, Kay Krag '23, and Estelle Lord '23 were indefatigable in their efforts throughout two challenging halves. Picking up the wings were Izzy Sutherland '23, Sadie Abramson '23, Sarah Azrin '23, and Madison Donelson '23, with significant support from teammates Soleil Lech '22, Tabby Elliot '23, Jessica Hua '22, Annabel Adeyeri '22, and Co-Captain Sophie Schaeffer '21 in quasi-quarterback play. This is a versatile and talented team. We moved players on the field as long as the clock ran down, and each player assumed a new role with grit, alacrity, and in spite of powerful heat: tremendous energy. This is a team to watch, and this is the way we play: heart and sould--all eyes on the prize. Thanks to our team manager, Sam Manafort '22, for keeping us on top of the clock and on the books, and congratulations to our awesome athletes--the JV Field Hockey Team of 2019!
