Miss Porter's Varsity Soccer hosted Suffield Academy on Wednesday afternoon. This contest did not disappoint as fans were treated to a six-goal afternoon. Early in the game, Natalie Godoy '21 found Sam Halligan '21 who played a clever pass to Kyla Gallagher '20 who controlled h ball before opening the scoring. Not too long after Suffield had hit the crossbar, Gallagher '20 returned the favor as she played an inviting ball into the area for Halligan '21 to score her second of the season. At 2-0 Suffield was still a constant threat and managed to score from 25 yards out to half the deficit. Shortly before half time, the score was tied at 2-2 as Suffield played a quick free-kick. The girls in green showed a tremendous amount of resilience to limit Suffield to very few shots, and midway through the first half Laura Gouvin '20 combined with Halligan '21 who was once again the provider as Gallagher '20 scored her 10th of the season at the back post. With 10 minutes remaining Marjorie Plants '21 made another fantastic run and found freshman Lauren Jerzerski '23 who scored from the edge of the area for her first high school career goal. A special shoutout must go to Anna Foster '20 who stepped up and played her first varsity game in goal, without her experience and composure the result would've been different. Next up Porter's Soccer (5-0) travel to last years Class A New England semi-finalists for a 1pm kick-off on their reunion weekend.
