Porter's rallied throughout but failed to capture the win.
At Loomis yesterday, Porter's rallied throughout fierce competition but failed to capture the win. Hamstrung by injury, (see what I did there?), Porter's played their usual well-executed competition. We surely felt the absence of a few key players, but the team rebounded to retain possession and execute the pays and drills we've been documenting all season. With excellent flat-and-through passing at midfield especially, Sadie Abramson '23, Sarah Azrin '23, Kay Krag '23, Estelle Lord '23, and Annabel Ayederi '22 took control of play for the first 15 minutes, driving above the 25 and holding the circle. Loomis responded with a strong and determined offense, and Porter's flailed through several rapid goals until a redoubled effort kept Loomis away from the cage. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Akomolafe '23 and Soliel Lech '22 at sweep prevented a higher score, with Loomis crowding the 25 and creating abundant opportunities for corner shots. Angela Royle '23, Reina Salama '22, Jessica Hua '22, Tabby Elliot '23, and Sophie Schaeffer '22 covered the ball and marked Loomis for the benefit of Izzy Sutherland '23 who flew in from wing (did it again) to put Porter's on the board. Great effort, team, and onto Rumsey Hall!
