Miss Porter's Varsity Soccer hosted last seasons Class A finalists, Loomis to Kiki field. Both teams stayed organized and looked to move the ball in the early stages, and it was Loomis who hit the underside of the bar from 35 yards out in the early stages. 22 minutes into the game Kyla Gallagher '20 won a free-kick, she then played Laura Gouvin '20 through to open the scoring with a brave finish inside the area. Two minutes after the opening goal the girls in green doubled the tally. Lauren Schramm '20 played a long ball to Gallagher '20 who flicked it on to Adi Botet '23 whose excellent first touch beat the last defender before she slotted the ball home. Porter's Soccer made it 3-0 seven minutes into the second half when Sam Halligan '21 played a quick free-kick to Gouvin '20 who hit an unstoppable shot from a tight angle for her second goal of the game. Gallagher '20 got on the scoresheet when she picked up a ball from a Loomis defender, she then beat two players before scoring her 19th goal of the season. With only 9 minutes remaining Taylor Hall '22 showed skill and desire by the corner flag, the ball managed to find Zoe O'Dea '23 who played the ball back to booted '23 who scored her second goal of the game from 20 yards.
The whole team worked hard with and without the ball, Marjorie Plants '21 and Taylor Hall '22 worked tirelessly to prevent any dangerous balls in the flanks. Jenna Hall '20 showed experience and quality in goal and a special mention to Ana Bartkiewicz '20, Meghan Keating '20 and Lauren Schramm '20 who frustrated the Loomis attackers all afternoon.
Porter's Soccer (10-0-1) now travels to Class A opponents, Convent of the Sacred Heart for a 1pm kick-off.
