Our game against Loomis was a beautiful game to watch. The first half was intense, with both teams creating chances and at times we were able to keep Loomis on their third of the field, and at times the kept us on our third of the field. For us, it was clear that having control of the midfield did allow us to create goal chances and we did lose that control we suffered more.
Towards the end of the first half, Lilli kicked a very high volley that Loomis’ keeper had trouble stopping, to the point she grabbed the ball inside the goal, but the referees did not call it. It was the second ghost goal they did not call on our favor this season.
During half time we decided to change our strategy and our game positioning so we could contain their most dangerous players.
Miss Porter’s played a beautiful second half, probably the best we have seen the team play this season. They did communicate, moved the ball and had some good chances to score, even two handballs inside Loomis’ area in our favor that the referees did not call. With seven minutes left in the game, Loomis was on the attack and they were able to score a nice goal.
And that was it.
We tried to score but could not do it.
Even though we were disappointed in losing the game, it was a game very well played against a very good opponent.
