Porter’s lost to Hopkins on Saturday, although the team looked better the final set (Hopkins opted for best 2 of 3) than it had looked in weeks. Maddie Guilmartin ’21 did a fabulous job in her first game as Libero, both in terms of defense and serving. Mara Farrell ’21 and Linda Cai ’20 contributed with solid defensive play on the back line, while Captain Darian Gordon ’20 and Mariela Vazquez ’21 played consistently on both front and back lines. Hiyo Kobari ’22 set well, including after Susie Sun ’20 (who set well throughout the game) went out with an injury. On the whole, Porter’s communicated well, moved with quick feet, and made unselfish decisions. We are hoping we can bring these habits to bear against Choate on Wednesday.
