The Porter's field hockey team made the long trip to Rye, NY to face The School of the Holy Child on Saturday. The matchup was an even one and the ball was moved back and forth in the midfield for the majority of the first half. With under 10 minutes to go in the first half, a shot from HC took an unfortunate bounce off the stick of a Porter's defender and went in before goalie Nia Carroll ('22) could react. Porter's fought back in the 2nd half and dominated the field offensively. After a corner call 11 minutes into the half, a hard shot from Tyler Gaston ('23) at the top of the circle was tipped in by Audrey McMillan ('20) and Porter's tied things up. Porter's was unable to take the lead, despite several more chances, and the game moved into overtime. Unfortunately, the OT came to an end quickly, when one of the Holy Child forwards used her speed to get past the Porter's defense and a quick shot led to the sudden victory for HC. Goalie Nia Carroll ('23) had 3 saves in the first half and senior goalkeeper, Kami Vigilant, recorded 3 saves in the 2nd half.
