Despite having a small and somewhat injured squad, the Porter's field hockey team held strong on the field against a frustrated Pomfret team. Pomfret had two illegal goals called back in the first half and they were constantly rebuffed by the hard working Porter's defensive line. Goalie Kami Vigilant made many amazing saves to keep Porter's hopes alive in the first half, which ended with a 0-0 tie. About 10 minutes into the 2nd half, Pomfret was able to get a breakaway and a defensive breakdown led to a goal. This didn't deter Porter's, however, as they continued to work hard to get the ball to the forward line. Forwards Mel Belenardo ('20) and Sydney Cheng ('21), along with midfielders Audrey McMillan ('20) and Tyler Gaston ('23) did a great job moving the ball down the left sideline in the 2nd half, and their strong ball movement gave Porter's a few chances to score in the final minutes. Defenders Natalie Brennan ('20), Georgia Finley ('22) and Nia Carroll ('22), and goalie Kami Vigilant (22 saves) worked diligently throughout the game. Unfortunately, Porter's was unable to earn the tie, but it was a wonderful effort and the team worked very well together all over the field.
