Porter's ends on a high note with OT victory

After a long drive to Millbrook on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, the Porter's field hockey team got off to a sluggish start against the Millbrook Mustangs.  Their lack of focus and energy cost them an early goal and Millbrook maintained a 1-0 lead against Porter's for the majority of the game.  A couple of position changes and substitutions led to a more dominant second half for Porter's offensive line and Mel Belenardo ('20) finally found the net with 6:16 remaining in the game.  Despite a few more chances to score in regulation, Porter's couldn't finalize the game and they headed to overtime.  Millbrook started with the ball and it took Porter's a little bit to regain possession, but once they did, it was all over.  Tyler Gaston ('23) took off on a breakaway down the right sideline and made a perfect cross into the circle to Mel Belenardo ('20), who was able to lift it past the goalie and into the net for the sudden victory with 7:57 left in the OT!  It was a fabulous way to end the season and it was a well-deserved win for this team after working so hard to improve all season.  Great job ladies!

Congrats to all of our seniors for a wonderful season! Congratulations also goes to Audrey McMillan ('20) and Mel Belenardo ('20) for their selection to the WNEPSFHA All-Star game, which they played in at Suffield Academy on Nov. 10th (see pictures below).
