Imagining Life is an event that gives seniors the opportunity to hear from a small panel of Ancients about what they can expect from life after Farmington. Small group discussions will evolve into a free form conversation about the challenges and rewards of adulthood and how Miss Porter’s prepares its alumnae to shape a changing world. The objective is for students to hear from Ancients and learn that no two paths to a career are alike. It will also be an opportunity for students to learn about the importance of building and maintaining relationships\, both personal and professional.

Margie has lived in Cape Town\, South Africa for six years and will take us on a short virtual tour of the Cape\, as well as look at the most common indigenous fynbos plants in this remarkable part of the world. She will also take us to “visit” the remarkable gardens of Stellenberg\, Old Nectar\, the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden\, and a private garden in Constantia. DESCRIPTION:This Foundational Series is designed for Ancients to engage in Diversity\, Equity\, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) conversation and practice. The MPS Alumnae Board’s DEIB Committee has undergone training with the Disruptive Equity Education Project on facilitating powerful\, intentional conversations to understand how we can collectively work to repair harm and ultimately act differently. \nThis workshop\, entitled “What’s in a Name?\,” will create space for Ancients to examine conscious and unconscious biases as individuals and as members of the MPS sisterhood and eventually work collectively to identify tools not just for increasing inclusion and belonging\, but moving us closer to true equity in our school and our Ancient community. \nThese sessions will not be recorded. \nREGISTER BELOW
