Porter's Loses Its First Game of the Season

Gene Cassidy
JV Volleyball lost its first game of the season, against a very talented Choate Rosemary Hall squad. Porter’s was down two players due to injury and illness, but Maddie Guilmartin’ 21 and Scout Davis ’21 stepped up well, comporting themselves admirably in positions they were not used to playing. Angela Yuan ’21 also took on serving admirably, something she is not normally asked to do. On the whole, Porter’s played well, hustling and communicating, with Captain Alexia Cusano ’20, Lucinda De Laney ’20, and Haley Baum ’20 among the leading scorers. Captain Carolyn Nida ’19 also worked hard on the off the court, helping keep Porter’s positive throughout the match. However, Choate’s serving skills, combining outstanding speed and pinpoint accuracy, proved too much to overcome. Porter’s looks forward to a week of preparation before our next game, against Loomis Chaffee, on 9/29.
