Porter's played an excellent first half against a competitive Taft team. Holding back Taft's aggressive offense, goalkeeper Soliel Lech '22 cleared the circle at least ten times to stave-off intense and rapid shots on goal. Supporting her were Lily Jenden '22 and Nia Carroll '22 who kept Taft away from there goal until a skilled shot bounced in toward the close of the first half. Field players and captains Claire Golder '19, Caroline Ma '19, and Priyanka Tomar '19 passed flat and through to challenge the Taft defense, and Georgia Finley '22, Lydia Woodworth '21, Reina Salama '22, and Sam Manafort '22 created a strong and organized system of dodging, passing, and clearing the 25. Chris Ng '20 at midfield and Sophie Schaeffer '21 as forward, wing, or mid worked tirelessly to take and control possession. In the second half, however, Taft dominated possession, and though Jessica Hua '22, Emi Alzaraki-Reynes '21, Elisa Apfel '21, and Annabel Adeyeri '22 fought hard from the 50 to the goal, Porter's struggled to keep Taft out of the 25 and comfortably away from the cage. The game score doesn't highlight the growth and passion of our JV team--a dedicated and determined group of athletes--and we walked away from Oaklea Field knowing we gave our best effort to one another and our school.
