On parents weekend Porter's Varsity Soccer recorded 35 shots vs. an organized and hard working Convent of the Sacred Heart team.
Porter's controlled much of the game and attacked with pace during the first half. The home team took advantage of space out wide and served in a number of dangerous crosses that were wasted due to a lack of attacking intent and anticipation. With 5 minutes to go in the first half Laura Gouvin '20 took the initiative and beat three defenders before playing the ball into the six-yard box where Sam Halligan '21 was on hand to volley the ball onto the corner.
The second half saw the girls in green enter the attacking third constantly, but poor finishing and efficient goalkeeping kept the score at 1-0. Defensively Porter's were aware of the counter and restricted the opponents to a few long-range efforts.
Next up an away game with Berkshire at 3.15pm on Wednesday.
