The Porter's JV squash team drove to Millbrook School for a Saturday afternoon match. After having a short 20 minutes to warm up, a long bus ride, and changes to the line-up, this match was different from the Daisies' normal routine, but they nevertheless had a positive outlook. We were happy to have Nia Carroll '22 join us, and who won her match in three quick games. Highlights include junior Sarah Tsai's relentless hustle on the court and junior Laura-Joëlle Geschwindt's technically impressive serves.
Our next match is home on Wednesday afternoon (1/30) versus Loomis Chaffee.
The Porter's "Fighting Daisies" played solid matches against The Westover School at our first home game on Wednesday. Each game of every match was won, and some proved to be no contest. The Daisies' expertise with technique and game strategy were large factors contributing to this win. Junior Laura-Joelle Geschwindt won one of her games 11-0. Ella Hough '21, Jenny Wu '19 and Sarah Tsai '20 were among others who shined on the court.
We look forward to a well-deserved winter break and are eager to come back in 2019 ready to continue the season.
The JV squash team traveled to The Kent School on Wednesday for an afternoon match. The Daisies fought hard in each of their seven matches, but ultimately could not pull off the four wins necessary to beat Kent.
Jenny Wu '19 showed an impressive variety of shots, forcing her opponent to run to all corners of the court. Laura-Joelle Geschwindt '20 won her match with consistent serving and smart drives. Lydia Woodworth '21 played her matches with ease, showing more experience and talent than her Kent opponent.
Our first home game of the season is next week Wednesday, 12/12 against Westover.
JV squash traveled to Pomfret for the first match of the season along with the varsity team. Many of Pomfret's JV players were new to the game, and Porter's modeled sportsmanship and patience as they showed Pomfret's players how to score and referee.
JV won six out of the seven matches. Meghan Keating '20, Lauren Schramm '20, Liz Mao '19, Jenny Wu '19, Lilli Aferzon '19, and Lydia Woodworth '21 all won their matches in three straight sets, besting the Pomfret players with a variety of shots and strong serves.
