  • Porter's Victorious Over Loomis

    Porter’s Varsity Swimming & Diving is off to a great start this season. The team won their second meet of the season against Loomis Chaffee, this is the first time since 2014 that the team has had a win against Loomis.

    Marissa Chow help lead the way to victory as a member of the first place finishing 200M Medley Relay Team of Madison Hagberg '22, Marissa Chow '20, Moira Lee '19 and Julianna Weir '22 and the 400M Freestyle Relay Team of Maddie Beaule '21, Julianna Weir '22, Madison Hagberg '22, Marissa Chow '20. Marissa also won both her individual events the 100M Butterfly and the 100M Breaststroke.
     
    Marissa's 100M Breaststroke time of 1:13.19 broke the Loomis Chaffee Pool record set in 2013 and broke the New England Prep School Swimming & Diving (NEPSSA) record that was set back in 2010.
     
    Fellow teammates, Maddie Bealue ‘21 also won the 200 M Freestyle and 400M Freestyle along with being a member of the winning 200M Freestyle and 400M Freestyle Relays. Madison Hagberg ’22 won the 200M IM and the 100M Backstroke as well as member of the first place 200M Medley and 400M Freestyle Relays.
     
    Seniors Avery Metcalfe ’19 and Moira Lee ’19 lead the team in and out of the water Avery took home second in the 100M Freestyle and 100M Backstroke as well as a member of the winning 200M Freestyle Relay (Maddie Beaule ’21, Avery Metcalfe ’19, Georgia Finley ’22, Sophia Hemschot ’22) and 400M Freestyle Relay. Moira placed third in the 100M Butterfly and was a member of the first place 200M Medley Relay.
     
    Freshman Julian Weir ’22, placed second in the 50m Freestyle and first in the 100M Freestyle while being a member of the first place 200M Medley Relay and 400M Freestyle Relay. Georgia Finley ’22, stepped up with a third-place finish in the 200M Freestyle and fourth in the 100M Butterfly and was a member of the first place 200M Freestyle Relay.
     
    Porter’s swept the 100M Backstroke and 100M Breaststroke, In the backstroke Maddison Habgerg ’22 took first, Avery Metcalfe ’19 placed second and Alexia Sanabria ’20 took home third. For the breaststroke Marissa Chow ’20 crushed it for first, Sophia Hemschot ’22 took second and Mia Tollis ’21 touched out Loomis for third. Sophia Hemschot ’22 also placed second in the 200M IM and was a member of the winning 200M and 400M Freestyle Relays.
     
    The meet was exciting, and it was great to see all the members of the Porter’s Swimming and Diving Team cheering each other on to a victory over Loomis.

  • Porter’s Swimming & Diving Wins Season Opener

    The varsity swim and dive team came together and had a strong showing for their first meet of the season. The team placed first in all 11 swimming events and second in diving.

    The meet started off well with the 200 Medley team of Madison Hagberg ’22, Marissa Chow ’20, Moira Lee ’19 and Julianna Weir ’22 taking first and the team of Avery Metcalfe ’19, Mia Tollis ’21, Georgia Finley ’22 and Sophia Hemschot ’22 taking home second.

    As the meet continued Maddie Beaule ’21, won the 200 Free, 500 Free and was a member of the winning 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. Her teammates continued this course with Marissa Chow ’20, taking first in the 100 Butterfly, 100 Breast and was a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. Madison Hagberg ’22 won the 200 IM, 100 Backstroke and was a member of the first place 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. Julianna Weir took first in the 50 Free, 100 Free and was a member of the winning 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. All four swimmers above were also recognized as Athlete of the Week for their performances at the meet.

    Senior Avery Metcalfe took home second in the 100 Free, 100 Backstroke and was part of the first place 200 Free Relay team. (Maddie Beaule ’21, Georgia Finley ’22, Moira Lee ’19, Avery Metcalfe ’19).

    Freshman Sophia Hemschot ’22 and Georgia Finley ’22 along with teammate Mis Tollis ’21 all had great showings in their debut as Porter’s Swimmers. Our diver, Ella Warner ’19, placed second in the diving event. This meet could not have been won without all of the members of the Porter’s Varsity Swimming & Diving Team.

    Our next meet is away at Loomis Chaffee on Wednesday, 12/5, at 3:30pm. We look forward for some fast swimming and fantastic diving!
