When getting to the prom is on everyone's mind the team rallied together to get the job done. 18 hits were put in the score book in the Porter's win, including a 3 run home-run by off of the bat of Hannah Zukoswki in the 8 run 4th inning (Zukoswki also had 3 singles for the day). Gaelen Carroll took over at first base today and posted 3 singles of her own, while Maya Silva-Thompson took over at short-stop and had two singles and a double in the win. Lucinda DeLaney put two doubles and a single in the book, Morgan Pickett a single, Julianna Diamantis two singles and Charlotte come in to add a two run double in the top of the 7th inning.
Kent was able to score some runs early but the battery of Jessica Sardilli and Zukowski worked well together to score 11 strikeouts for the day.
Porter's will host Taft on Monday, April 24th for a 4:30 start.
The dip in the temperature did not slow down the Porter's Varsity Softball team as they posted 17 runs in the 5 inning win. Eights hits were posted in the win by Porter's. Hannah Zukowski lead with a double and a single, Jenna Hall poked through 2 singles, while Maya Silva-Thompson, Natalie Brennan, De'Jah Jennings, and Gaelen Carroll all had hard hit singles.
The battery of Jessica Sardilli and Zukowski worked together to post 10 strike-outs in the win.
Porter's will travel to the Kent School on Saturday, April 22nd for a 1:15 start.
Porter's was able to get runners on base several times against the always strong Ethel Walker team...but crossing the plate just did not happen in this loss. Gaelen Carroll hit the ball hard in the first inning with a single to post a threat, she was unable to score as the Walker's team retired the next two batters in order. Maya Silva-Thompson added a single in the 4th, allowing Hannah Zukowski to move to third after stealing 2nd, but again we were unable to cross the plate before the side was retired. Natalie Brennan was the final Porter's player to reach 1st on a single, in the 7th inning, but the offense was then stopped ending the game in a shut-out.
Walker's offense kept Porter's defense on their toes from the first inning on. Jenna Hall had a great day at short-stop as the battery did everything they could to keep the ball in the zone but away from the Walker's bats. Charlotte Whalen took left field in the fifth inning just in time to see some action and make a great catch.
Porter's will host Stoneleigh Burnham School on Wednesday, April 19th for a 3:00 game time.
