The Porter's cross country raced against Williston Northampton on Saturday on their brand new course. It was only the second race ever on the course. Although Porter's lost 39-22, the team ultimately ran quite well considering the WNH team was almost two an a half times the size of the Porter's team. Alexandra Poole '20 won first place over all by over half a minute and she nearly set a course record. Kyra Bukowski '18 deserves a shout out too as she overtook two WNH runners in the last two miles to earn fifth place overall.
The Porter's cross country team traveled to Suffield Academy on Saturday to participate in the Gordy Glover Invitational. The conditions were warm and the course included one large hill, but the team is used to running in those circumstances. The Porter's team placed 5th out of 9 teams with 120 points. Alexandra Poole '20 placed 4th overall with a time of 20:58 which is a personal best for her this season!
Although Porter's Cross Country lost to both Suffield and Taft at Taft on Saturday, the Porter's Cross Country Team ran well on a challenging course in challenging conditions. With temperatures in the mid 80s and a course that had some significant hills and very little shade, every runner from the Porter's Cross Country team who completed the course was still able to do so with a personal best time for the season. A special shout out to Alexandra Poole '20, Kyra Bukowski '18, and Marisol Carty '19. Poole '20 came in second place overall with a time of 21:26. Bukowski '18 and Carty '19 both improved on their times from last week by an entire minute with times of 23:07 and 23:17 respectively.
