Our Thirds team wasn't able to repeat the win of last week against Rumsey Hall in our second encounter. The game started with two early goals from the Rumsey squad in spite of a great performance by first period goalie Annie-Kate Schubert. Our team quickly established dominance on the field for the rest of the game, but was not able to find the back of the net in spite of multiple shots and solid playing. The second half brought again field dominance by Porter's for the most part, but it was Rumsey again who would be able to score first. Porter's responded with a goal by Ditta Chandra with 10 minutes left on the game. Our team is now ready for our next game on Wednesday against Loomis.
Following both Varsity and JV Soccer's victories, Porter's Thirds Soccer won against Rumsey Hall School. Still missing some key players, Porter's struggled to dominate plays and fight for every ball. Nevertheless, Rumsey defenders could not keep up once Porter's spread out and worked to pass the ball across the field, resulting in a goal from Sabrina Liu '21. Thanks to goalie Carolina Pacheco Balcazar '20 and her numerous saves Rumsey was only able to score once in the whole game. Players Jacqueline McCarthy '18 and Julia Gardow '21 proved indispensable in protecting our defense and Shamreethaa Seeniraj '21 got a few runs in towards goal as forward. Next game is on October 14th against Rumsey on their home field.
Porter's Thirds Soccer returned early from Long Fall Weekend to play their second game against Ethel Walkers. Traveling to Simsbury with just enough players to field the team, Porter's worked together to keep possession and score against Walkers. After several team efforts, Lilli Aferzon '19 scored the winning goal with an assist from Sabrina Liu '21. An excellent effort from everyone on the team!
