Porter's traveled to Pomfret for their last game of the season against Rectory School. The team was ready to improve their performance against Rectory after their earlier game in the season. Porter's played a solid game all around and was able to maintain good pressure on the opponent, playing most of the half on Rectory's field. Rectory scored first, but Montse Pidal evened the score in a one on one against the goalie. Porter's continued a strong second half even as the Rectory team scored on a few opportunities. Porter's second goal would come from Sarah Spence assisted by Lilli Aferzon. It has been a true pleasure being part of such a committed and enjoyable team, all the best to everyone on their Winter athletic endeavors!
The rematch against Hebrew High School on Wednesday provided a clear benchmark for just how far the Porter’s Thirds Soccer team has progressed this season. Going up 2-0 in the first two minutes of play with excellent passing and goals scored by Anya Lord ’19, the team quickly gained control of the game. After a third goal by Bella Heath ’20, the team decided to get creative with forwards switching positions with defense and the goalie playing midfield, which provided the team an enjoyable challenge while continuing to dominate the game. Shout-outs go to Tania Farah ’20, Cassie Alwang ’20, and Alex Black ’20 for their explosive work in the field.
The Porter’s Thirds Soccer team braved the rain and cold for their Saturday game against Rectory. Unfortunately, a few unlucky bounces in front of our goal in the first half allowed Rectory to pull ahead. However, Porter’s battled bravely in the second half and was able to control the ball, but could not generate a goal despite repeated attempts. Shout-outs go to Dita Chandra ’20, Willow Quine ’20, Sarah Spence ’20 and Dani Zamarripa Zercovitz ’19 for their amazing efforts in midfield and defense.
