The Porter’s community is excited to welcome home ancient Ellie Large ’81 to campus on February 1st, to speak about her journey as a student-athlete. February 1st is also the celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). Ellie Large ’81 was recently inducted into the 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame. Ellie was a member of the Varsity Soccer and Varsity Lacrosse teams at Porter’s where she was awarded all State awards and two all-team awards and was recognized as a two-time MVP by the Women’s Western New England Prep School Association. Ellie was a four-sport athlete at Tufts University. She captained the Lacrosse team to its first-ever undefeated season, picking up all-region and all-American honors along the way. Ellie was the first Lacrosse player to score 100+ goals for the Tufts University program. Ellie also played Ice Hockey at Harvard business school. Since college, Ellie has become an accomplished golfer winning the Connecticut Tournament of Champions twice, and the Endicott Championship twice, and is a three-time USGA Senior Amateur participant.

Ellie’s attention to detail, fierce competitiveness, and relentless pursuit of excellence are why she continues to set goals and destroy them. Many desire the ability to compete at the highest level, but few are willing to embrace the demands it requires to be great. The Miss Porter’s Hall of fame began in 2018 for ancients like Ellie.
