Director of Athletics; Head Coach, Varsity Soccer

Avi Dubnov is the Director of Athletics and Head Coach of the Varsity Soccer team. The 2019/20 season was the most successful athletic season in Miss Porter’s history as the school won four Founders League titles and one New England Championship.  

Avi joined the Miss Porter’s community in 2013 as the Head coach of the Varsity Soccer team, since then the program has won the Founders league three times (2016, 2018 & 2019), the WWNEPSSA Class B (2016 & 2018), and Class A (2019) regular-season titles. On two occasions, the program finished #1 out of #47 WWNEPSSA schools. In Avi’s time with the program, he has been awarded the WWNEPSSA Coach of the Year and the NSCAA Coach of the year. In nine seasons the school has celebrated 3 All-Americans, 4 All-New England, and 18 All-State player awards. The Varsity Soccer program has also had nine Division 1 and four Division 3 student-athletes go on to be collegiate soccer players. 

Previously, Avi has been a staff member for the girl’s US Youth Soccer National training centers, a Head Coach of the FSA FC United ECNL team, the CT Olympic Development Program, and a member of the Region 1 and state staff to teach USSF Licenses to coaches in New England. Avi has also been an assistant coach for the Men’s Soccer team at Trinity College and the Men’s Soccer team at Central Connecticut State University. Avi holds his USSF National ‘A’ License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and a Masters of Science in Organizational Psychology from the University of Hartford.

Avi, originally from East London, England, lives on campus with his wife, Amber, and daughter Darcie Gray.
