Avi Dubnov
Director of Athletics; Head Coach, Varsity Soccer
Avi Dubnov is the Director of Athletics and Head Coach of Varsity Soccer at Porter’s School. He holds a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology, a USSF National A-License, and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Under Avi’s leadership, the soccer team has achieved remarkable success, securing the 2025 NEPSAC Class A Championship, seven Founders League championships and five WWNEPSSA titles, while ranking No. 1 four times among 47 schools. His coaching excellence has earned him numerous accolades, including the 2025 National Independent School Coach of the Year, two Regional and Connecticut Coach of the Year awards from WWNEPSSA and the United Soccer Coaches, as well as the prestigious M.D. Nadal Sportsmanship Award from the Founders League.
Since 2017, under Avi’s guidance, Porter’s soccer has produced five All-Americans, twelve All-New England selections, and 30 All-State athletes, with 26 going on to play at the collegiate level. Between 2023 and 2026, over 50 student-athletes from the school have committed to competing in collegiate sports.
Originally from East London, Avi resides on campus with his wife, Amber, and their children, Darcie and Bowen.
