Crew
As a returner to the squad, this athlete has spent the early season building confidence, and proved exactly what she’s made of this weekend. Unshaken by an unexpected start to the day, she stepped into the boat, took command, and led her crew to an open-water finish against the competition. Tough, unshakable, and already making waves; this week’s Athlete of the Week is Katie Johnson!
Golf
This golfer has been on a tear to start the season, beating at least one of her competitors in her first 3 matches. Consistently shooting the best score of the team, this golfer moved up to number one position two weeks ago and looked invincible beating both of her Hotchkiss and KO opponents as our number one. While she finally looked human after losing to Kent and Ethel on Wednesday playing a new course and without a warmup, she bounced back this weekend getting revenge on Ethel and beating her KO competitor. She set the standard as we swept Ethel and earned a hard fought tie against KO with a primarily underclassmen team. The athlete of the week is Yulia Chipman!
Track & Field
The Track & Field team’s nomination for athlete of the week is someone who has destroyed her season-best times by at least 10 seconds in both the 800m and 1500m over the past two meets. She has persevered through a quad injury and has been working hard to achieve her goals. She is becoming a stronger and more confident runner. We are proud of what she has accomplished thus far and have high hopes for her to end the season with more drops in time. Congrats Sam Sigal and keep up the great work!

Tennis
This Athlete of the Week found herself in the moment every competitor dreams of. Match tied at 3-3. One court left. The result on the line. She stepped up and delivered. With an 8-3 win at singles, she clinched the match for Miss Porter’s against Kent. It wasn’t quick points or easy tennis. It was long rallies, physical exchanges, and a willingness to fight for every ball. Through it all, she stayed composed, steady, and fully present. As a sophomore new to varsity after playing JV last year, she showed a level of maturity and discipline that goes beyond experience. When the moment got bigger, she got clearer. That is what competing looks like. Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week, Julia Han!
Track & Field
Track & Field’s nomination for Athlete of the Week is a hard worker in practice and is willing to help out her team when it comes to relays. She won the 200m and 400m against Loomis Chaffee last Saturday and was second and third in those events this past Wednesday. She is a strong sprinter for us, coachable and will continue to have great successes. We can see her breaking a record by the end of the season. We are so happy she decided to join the Track & Field team this year for her last season at Miss Porter’s! Congrats to Lauren Ricapito!

Varsity Lacrosse
This athlete of the week had a stellar rookie opening week for Varsity Lacrosse. She contributed all over the field with 6 goals, numerous caused turnovers and ground balls and double digit draw controls. This player played a critical role in our exciting & gritty comeback against Westminster. Congratulations Grace Mah!
JV Lacrosse
This athlete brought joy and determination to the field in JV Lacrosse. In a close game against Westminster, she played with steady focus, composure, and passion for the game, scoring six goals. Throughout the week, what stood out most was her quiet leadership – she leads by example consistently showing up for the team and working hard. Her steady presence and upbeat attitude have made a positive impact on her teammates, and her efforts are already contributing to a strong and rewarding season. The JV Lacrosse Athlete of the Week is Chloe Rizzi-Smith!
Varsity Tennis
This week’s 3rd Athlete of the Week comes after a hard fought 9-7 victory at singles against Greens Farms Academy. In a closely contested match, this player demonstrated excellent consistency, composure, and resilience, executing the fundamentals with discipline until the match turned in her favor. After competing on JV last year, this player earned a spot on the varsity team as a senior and has already made a meaningful impact. Her performance reflects the values we emphasize: fighting spirit, consistency, and the ability to execute the basics at a high level when it matters most. Congratulations Brigette Russell!
