Ancients Events

The Miss Porter’s School community of Ancients (our term of endearment for alumnae), families, and friends gather at many events across the globe throughout the year, reuniting members of the Porter’s family in the spirit of Farmington.

The Miss Porter’s School Alumnae Association boasts a membership of 5,907. The Ancient network is a meaningful lifelong connecter, one that is unique. Ancients value their experience and pay it forward by giving back to school through volunteerism, serving as class representatives, members of the Alumnae Board, or Trustees. Ancients visit school and host students in their professional settings, opening up new worlds and possibilities for the girls, and enrich their academic experience. Extraordinary philanthropic support from our Ancients provides the resources to enhance our beautiful historic campus, deepen the InterMission offerings, provide scholarships to deserving students, and strengthen the endowment fund.

We welcome you back with open arms, and encourage you to visit and to volunteer. When you return to Farmington, you will be reminded that there is a fundamental bond that links each generation of Ancients to Miss Porter’s School. Each day we continue the mission of our founder to provide young women with the finest and most rigorous liberal arts education. Each day we are certain that within our legacy lies our future.

Thank you, Miss Porter’s School Ancients!

Because of YOU, the 3rd Annual Worldwide Sit-Down Dinner was a wonderful success. Over 600 Ancients gathered across 5 countries and 27 states to commemorate what it means to be an Ancient and to underscore the significance of the Miss Porter’s School all-female network.

Service Projects

Porters Service Projects

October 19, 2019 marked the inaugural MPS Day of Service. Ancients across the country gathered to support the cities in which they live. From installing much needed fire alarms in homes in Los Angeles, to serving popcorn at a festival to further local economic development, to gathering much needed supplies for a women’s shelter, Ancients served their communities, setting the groundwork to shape the world in which they live!

Thank you to Maggie Johndrow ’06 and Caroline Udelhofen ’07 for their work in organizing this amazing simultaneous service project effort.

2020 MPS Day of Service

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED – However there is still opportunity to individually engaged with each service project.

Thank you to those Ancients who registered and participated in the Annual Day of Service.

This year’s service events were held in a “virtual” format, allowing Ancients to participate in projects that speak to their desire to enact change and that are not limited by their geographic location.

We continue to encourage you to take action to make the difference.  Encourage your community to vote to have your voice heard.  Suggested guidelines can be found through Reclaim Our Vote or Vote Forward.  Please also refer to Andrea Hailey’s ’99 organization Vote.org and be sure to complete the 2020 US Census and be counted.

Thank you for helping us strengthen Sarah Porter’s vision for Miss Porter’s School to be a more fully inclusive and equitable institution.  In doing so, we all contribute to a more just chapter in our institution’s legacy.

BELOW, please find details regarding projects that Ancients completed.  Each project listed will link to the full project description.
