Mission Statement
The mission of Miss Porter’s School Campus Safety is to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Through communication and community engagement, we strive to prioritize the safety of students, faculty, staff and guests. Using proactive measures, we create a safe space to foster an atmosphere in which students can safely shape a changing world.
Miss Porter’s School is charged with the ultimate responsibility in the safety of our community members. Partnering with the Farmington Police department, we use the latest technology, adopt best practices of defined safety parameters and emergency procedures. Our team works diligently to keep our community knowledgeable and safe.
How we keep the community safe
Communication to the entire Porter’s community about safety protocols through:
- New Student Orientation Day and Student Handbook on safety
- All-school presentations for “Safety Days” at Morning Meeting at least four times throughout the school year
- Communications via email and text community-wide
- Opt-in Alert System messaging and information
- Review of all Safety and Emergency Procedures
Technology in use:
- Keyless or coded entry to all Porter’s buildings
- Lighted pathways and marked street crossings throughout our extended walking areas
- Cameras for monitoring
The Campus Safety team of highly-qualified professionals have multiple years of law enforcement training and experience emergency response, providing 24/7/365 protection.
We strive to create a community that appreciates public safety — one that understands the importance of self-awareness when moving about on and off campus.
