Hailu, Tessa

Teacher - Arts, Dance

Tessa is the director of Dance at Miss Porter’s and teaches academic studies in Dance Technique and Art and Social Justice. She also directs Dance Workshop, the advanced performance company. Tessa is a firm believer in the power of the artistic voice and loves to help students find confidence in theirs. She strives to bring awareness, creativity and joy into the community through the arts. Tessa loves the essence of Porter’s and what it stands for, finding pride in seeing our young women empowered and supported in anything they set their minds to. Tessa also continues to practice her craft as a professional working artist outside Porter’s. She is the co-founder/director of Immix Dance Project and is finishing her Master of Fine Arts in Dance in a summer residency at Hollins University in Virginia. When not dancing, Tessa dedicates most of her free time to family and desserts.
