Miss Porter’s School (MPS) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the National Business Officers Association (NBOA) to receive the Jeffrey Shields Award for Innovation Excellence in School Business Operations.
Miss Porter’s School will name its new student center in honor of Glenda Newell-Harris, M.D., a distinguished Ancient (alumna) who was the first Black student to attend the school, Head of School Katherine G. Windsor, Ed.D. announced

As we continue to weather the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racism in America, we have witnessed increasing tensions nationwide. Some might be shocked by the events, while others are not at all surprised by yet another manifestation of white supremacy. Today’s events in the nation’s capital are an expected and anticipated outcome of this pervasive, inflammatory, divisive rhetoric and a failure to act.
As we start the final countdown to 2021, we invite you to invest in the students of Miss Porter’s by making a gift to the Annual Fund. In 2020, the costs of creating a dynamic, safe and joyful in-person learning experience were extraordinary and frankly, we need your help to ensure that the rest of the academic year can be as successful as the fall has been.
The Miss Porter’s School community is excited to introduce our newest Ph.D.! Dr. Ayers earned a Ph.D. in Sociology, with a focus in feminist U.S. history and women’s social movements, from Virginia Tech.
On this Giving Tuesday, we invite you to directly help Miss Porter’s School offset the significant impact Covid-19 has had on our budget. In this unique fall, MPS was able to successfully welcome girls to campus for in-person classes, athletics, performing arts and leadership development. Being in Farmington, and working together, made all the difference for the girls of MPS, and philanthropy allowed school leaders to confidently execute our fall plan.
