Tim Quinn has devoted his career to independent schools. An alum of Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut, he earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Amherst College, a master’s in education from Harvard University, and a doctorate in educational and organizational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania.
At Miss Porter’s School, Tim serves as chief academic officer and dean of faculty. A frequent presenter at regional and national conferences, he writes regularly on education and is the author of “On Grades and Grading: Supporting Student Learning Through a More Transparent and Purposeful Use of Grades.” In addition to his administrative work, Tim teaches literature, philosophy, and the ninth-grade seminar Introduction to Inquiry. He values his time with students, guiding them to consider enduring questions: What is knowledge? What does it mean to live a good life? What is justice?
A former college hockey player and avid sports fan, Tim can often be found cheering on MPS teams or coaching youth hockey. He lives on campus with his wife, Sarah; their children, Connor and Annie; and their labradoodle, Dewey.
