Melissa Schomers is the Humanities Department chair and teaches English. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Iowa and a Master of Arts in literary studies from Trinity College in Connecticut.
Passionate about interdisciplinary education, Melissa encourages students to develop their voices and discover how their words shape the world. Since beginning her career in 2012, she has earned several teaching awards, including the Pauline Foster Reed Teaching Chair at Miss Porter’s.
She lives off campus with her partner and their two dogs. An avid hiker, she has summited nearly all 48 of the 4,000-foot peaks in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.
