Grier de Langley Torrence, Arts Department chair and Visual Arts Director. He teaches painting, drawing, and printmaking, and directs the galleries. He is also the Margaret How Wallace ’27 Teaching Chair.
He values working with the identity of each artist and providing a supportive environment for their growth. He coached crew for 15 years and loves that Porter’s is on the Farmington River. Grier is a practicing artist who has had six one-person shows in NYC, including three at the Bowery Gallery. He lives in Plainville, Conn., with his wife, Sarah. Their daughters, Ruth ’21 and Jane ’23, are studying at UCLA and UConn.
