Field Hockey

Field Hockey at Porter’s is a sport  where skill, strategy and camaraderie converge on the turf. It’s fast-paced, with dribbles, drives, passes, and shots on goal. Teamwork is paramount, precision is necessary and dedication is key to success.

Continue on that same road (name of the road changes from Sumner Avenue, to Allen Street, to Bicentennial Highway) for 5 miles. At the road’s end, turn left (Cooley Street becomes Parker Street), go until major intersection- approximately 2 miles. Turn right (Wilbraham Road). Continue approximately 2-3 miles, after second set of lights, bear left at the fork (Faculty Street); campus is short distance beyond. Approximate time by car from MPS: 1 hour 5 minutes (43.45 mi)

Get off at Exit 9E (Danbury), onto I-84 East to Exit 7 (Route 7, New Milford). In New Milford, take the right over the bridge (just past Southworth’s Chrysler), and then a left after the third light at the village green. Proceed to the end of the green, make a sharp left and then a sharp right on Aspetuck Avenue. Canterbury School is at the top of the hill on Aspetuck Avenue. From Hartford: Interstate 84 to Exit 15 (Southbury). Turn right at stop sign onto Route 67. Approximately one and a half miles down the road, Route 67 turns to the left. Watch for signs for Roxbury – Washington. Route 67 will bring you to Main Street, New Milford. Proceed to the end of the village green, make a left and then a quick right onto Aspetuck Avenue. The school is at the top of the hill. From Albany – New York State: Take the New York Thruway south to the Mass. Pike Extension, then to the Taconic Parkway, South. Exit at Millbrook, NY. Turn left at the bottom of the Exit onto Route 44 east to Route 343 east to Route 22 south into New Milford. At the light in New Milford, go left over the river and then proceed as above around the village green. Approximate time by car from MPS: 1 hour and 4 minutes (49.89 mi)

Go left onto Route 41, bear to the right at the church and follow approximately two miles to the four-corner intersection. The gym, rink and fields are on the left immediately before the intersection, go right onto Route 112. The school’s main entrance is on the right. The football field and track are located at the bottom of the hill on the left. From north of Hartford: Take Route 20 west to Route 219. Left on Route 219 and then bear a right onto Route 318. Continue to Route 44 and turn west toward Winsted. Continue on Route 44 through Canaan west to Lakeville. GO left onto Route 41, bear to the right at the church and follow approximately two miles to the four-corner intersection. The gym, rink and fields are on the left immediately before the intersection, go right onto Route 112. The school’s main entrance is on the right. The football field and track are located at the bottom of the hill on the left. From NYC: Saw Mill River Parkway to I-684 north. Continue heading north when Route 22 joins I-684 in Brewster. Continue north on Route 22 to Millerton. At the first stop light, turn east on Route 44. Proceed approximately 4 miles and turn right on Route112. The school’s main entrance is located at the top of the hill on the left immediately before the intersection of Route 112 and Route 41. At the intersection, take a left. The gym, rink and athletic fields can be reached by taking the second or third driveway on the right. From New Haven: Take Route 8 to Torrington where you take Route 4 west to Goshen. At the circle, take Route 63. About 12 miles later, take a left on Route 126 and follow to Route 7. Take Route 7 south to Route 112. Right on Route 112 to Lakeville. School is on the right. From Hartford: Take I-84 west to Farmington. Exit 39 and pick up Route 4 west through Torrington to Goshen traffic circle. Proceed as above.
