Teacher - Science

Emily teaches Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Lab Science, Oceanography and Freshwater Ecology, and also teaches in the senior Professional Experience program. She graduated from Williams College, where she studied English, geoscience and maritime studies, and she holds master’s degrees in both chemical oceanography and science education. Emily has a strong interest in climate and paleoclimate, and her research has taken her to Baja California, the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Around the Porter’s campus, she advises the Jewish Student Affinity, Hypatia, and the Science Olympiad. She lives on campus with her family and cats, and in her spare time she enjoys reading (especially literature of the sea) and fiber arts of all sorts.
