Miao teaches Chinese Language and Culture. She believes students learn better when they are passionate and take initiative. She is especially excited when students can connect and intertwine what they previously learned with what they are currently learning and when they learn from their friends outside the classroom. Miao encourages students to use the language they study daily. In addition to teaching courses, she advises the ConstellAsian Affinity and Asian Student Alliance and is a Language Lab co-adviser. She also manages the Mahjong tournament, which takes place weekly throughout the year. What Miao loves about the Porter’s community is that it is very supportive and is a trusting, liberal and understanding place.
