Chair - Mathematics Department

Hur-shiu is a math instructor, cross-country coach and Asian Student Alliance adviser at Miss Porter’s School, where she has been an integral part of the community since 2015. Hur-shiu brings over two decades of expertise in mathematics education to her role as Mathematics Department chair. She loves to ignite her students’ passion for mathematics — and for running, another of her passions. Hur-shiu finds fulfillment in empowering students within the unique setting of an all-girls school, where she actively fosters a supportive learning environment. Beyond her professional roles, Hur-shiu is an avid long-distance runner and enjoys traveling with her family. She lives on campus with her husband, Porter’s photography teacher Josh Bezdek, and their two children, Beata and Andromeda
