What comes after Miss Porter's School?

Our Porter’s girls are bold, resourceful, ethical global citizens. We prepare them to shape a changing world!

Our college office offers a highly personalized counseling program. The Porter’s college counseling team provides a solid foundation so students can actively participate in determining their next steps beyond Farmington.

100%

of Porter’s students were accepted to

4-year colleges and universities in 2023.

College Counseling Year by Year
Grade 9

The 9th grade journey allows students to explore Porter’s programs, stretch themselves, try new interests, and pursue their passions. Faculty advisors help students map their academic goals and chart their possible future path.

Grade 10

The Porter’s journey continues as grade 10 students move closer toward their future academic and career paths. A dedicated and trusted college advisor, practice college admission tests, and access to valuable resources are the foundational cornerstones as students learn to confidently navigate their path.

Grade 11

The college office guides students and families through the college application process. This includes individual testing plans, ACT and SAT testing, and visits from college admission officers. By summer, most students are ready to finalize their college lists, draft their essays, and secure recommendation letters. Many will start the merit- and academic scholarships search. Most importantly, the Porter’s student is ready for senior year and the next big step beyond Farmington.

Grade 12

The college office and counselors provide wraparound support to each student’s unique search. This last piece of the journey concludes in a refined application list, a planned strategic approach to leverage Early Decision/Early Action plans, finalized essays and supplements, and managing the details of the college and financial aid application process.

Over 100 colleges and universities visit campus in the fall. Students are encouraged to meet with all schools of interest.

Financing a College Education

Financing a college education takes planning and research — and the landscape has changed. Porter’s offers a college funding guide, spread over students’ four years for parents and guardians to learn about resources and options for scholarships, financial aid, and more.
