The Miss Porter’s School Bowl-A-Thon sale raises money for Foodshare.
What is Foodshare? What are we raising money for?
1 in 9 people in Hartford and Tolland counties are at risk of hunger, (119,000 people). 1 in 7 children
are at risk of hunger (about 32,000.) Foodshare, (Greater Hartford’s regional food bank) leads an
informed coordinated response to hunger by connecting surplus food to those that need it. Through
their many programs (wellness pantries, mobile food trucks, summer camps for kids in homes with
food insecurity, etc,) they distributed food for nearly14 million meals. In addition, seeing hunger as
more than food, Foodshare collaborates with other anti-hunger organizations, policy makers, etc. to
make changes on the systemic level. You can find out more at www.foodshare.org.
$40 provides food for 100 meals, $100 provides food for 250 meals and $400 provides food for 1000 meals.
