Lacrosse
This athlete has all the athleticism and positivity a coach and team could ask for. After a junior season cut short by an injury, she came back with a vengeance this season, as an attacker, midfielder, and co-captain. In the final game of the season, against KO, she scored her first goal of the season – to much fanfare from her team. Then she followed it up with two more goals. Three days later, at the Founders League Tournament, she scored THE goal in sudden-death overtime that secured our 10-9 win over Ethel Walker. Congratulations, Ella Babigian!
Softball
This athlete is an all around competitor. Working hard behind the plate, she has caught effortlessly even if it’s not her favorite position to play. She does everything with a big smile and is a central part in keeping our team spirits high. She has earned a total of 5 RBI’s over our last two games of the season helping the team finish both with the win. We are very excited to see how this player continues to shine on and off the softball field. Congratulations to Ellie Westcott!
Track and Field
The track and field team nominates for athlete of the week an individual who placed 2nd in the Shot Put at the Founder’s League Championship and improved her Discus throw by 10 ft for a personal best and 8th place finish. She also placed 6th in shot put at the NEPSTA Division 1 Championships this past Saturday which earned her a medal! Congrats to Nyla Liburd who has thrown well for her last two meets of her high school track & field career!
Strength Star
This fearless athlete took her spring fitness seriously. Over the past several months, she has been tireless in putting her efforts toward a training program that she implemented independently and without a coach. Having established a reputation as a motivated athlete, she was diligent in her practice schedule, took days off for necessary rest, and trained both on days that felt like monsoons and others that felt like summer had arrived way too early. Most notably, she was the only Serious Fitness athlete present on the first day back from Long Spring Weekend. Honestly though, this athlete held herself accountable in every way possible armed with a playlist that likely contained an overwhelming number of Taylor Swift songs and should have been called the Tortured Runners Department. This past Sunday, she swiftly completed her first half-marathon in Mystic and set her own personal record by running a consistent sub-nine minute mile. Congrats from the entire Serious Fitness team and its supervisors to the Serious Fitness Strength Star, Lauren Wallace!

Crew
This athlete has continuously shown top level performance in both skill and dedication always finding ways to improve her technical and physical capacity. She has been an outstanding advocate for her teammates lending support whenever needed. From PR’s on land, to setting the rhythm for her crew from stroke seat on the water, she continues to lead by example. Congrats to this week’s athlete of the week Lily Bonnem!
Ultimate
This athlete was a power force during our season this year. Before the season, she never touched a frisbee but was interested in trying something new, and pushing athleticism to new levels. During our practices, you will see her lightly jogging during warm-ups, a facade that would make us think she wasn’t very fast…but then comes the time for scrimmaging or playing a game, and you will see her sprinting deep into the end zone, almost always making a point catch. During our NESPUL tournament, this student made 8 incredible catches, all a result of her incredible speed and commitment to catching the frisbee. Congratulations Christina Guo! You had an amazing season, and you ended the season this past Saturday with dominance.

Badminton
She is an invaluable asset to our Badminton team. She is always ready to help her teammates with their technique, form and footwork. Most importantly, she leads our team with kindness and patience, but is a total beast on the court. Her teammates say that she’s quick on her feet, always game-ready, and incredibly reliable. Congratulations Mary Zheng!
Ultimate
This athlete has consistently been a powerhouse on their team, co-leading the largest team that we have seen in years. This player has led the Ultimate team fiercely, always playing entire 75-90 minutes. In our last game, they blocked 6 passes, assisted 3 points, and caught another point. This player is the embodiment of the most important tenant of Ultimate, Spirit of the Game, Anika Alschuler!
Track and Field
The track and field team nominates for athlete of the week an individual who won two events out of her 4 events of the day, the 100m hurdles and 300m hurdles at Saturday’s meet, has dropped significant time in those events and stepped up when asked to do the 4 x 400m relay. She has been working hard to improve her hurdle form and speed in practice. She continues to prove her dedication and hard work ethic to the team. Congrats to Carly Wilkes and best of luck in championship season!

Golf
This athlete of the week nomination set the tone early and led us to our second win of the season, a 3-2 win over Sacred Heart this past Saturday. She got off to a hot start, winning her first 5 holes, which mathematically ended her match. She continued her excellent play throughout the rest of her round. She ended up shooting a four over, 39, which is the best round in the Bliss coaching era. This week’s athlete of the week is Kendall Manuel!
Softball
This player has come into the season ready to compete. Showing up as a leader from the mound, she struck out over 10 players last game and she consistently shows up at the plate making connection with the ball and getting solid hits when needed. Always making jokes and having fun in the dugout she has made this season more competitive and fun. This player has made such a positive mark already and we can’t wait to see what she does next. Gwen Religa!
Lacrosse
On the Friday of Long Spring Weekend, Varsity Lacrosse hosted Ethel Walker and won 12 to 4. It was an extra special game as one of our seniors achieved an incredible career milestone. This player pushes herself and her teammates to be their best competitors. She is always the fastest player on the field and the most lethal with the ball on attack. This midfielder scored 6 goals vs Ethel, her 5th of the game was her 100th!! Scoring 100 goals in a high school lacrosse career is amazing, this athlete did it in two and half seasons! Congratulations to the tenacious Addy Boyd!
Track and Field
The track & field team nominates for athlete of the week an individual who has been consistently improving in her events and stepping up for the team to run the 4 x 400m relay every meet after just running the 3000m race. In addition to personal best improvements in the 3000m, she also has done well in the 1500m. This past week, she took first in both the 1500 and 3000 against Westminster. Congrats to an athlete who is mentally strong and dedicated, who works hard to achieve success! Keep up the great work Milla Perlman!

Track and Field
The Track and Field team nominates an individual that had an incredible start to the season during her first official meet of the track and field season this past Wednesday and as a freshman. She won three events; the 100m, 200m and long jump while breaking both the 100m and 200m school records!! This athlete is truly deserving of Athlete of the Week. We look forward to seeing what else you can do with your talents this season! Congrats to our new record breaker, Saige Chisholm!
Lacrosse
This week’s Athlete of the Week is new to the game, but she has made steady progress in learning the skills necessary to play competitive lacrosse. After only a few days of practice, she took the field in our first game against Choate. With a beautiful catch at midfield, this athlete wended her way through the entire Choate defense – who seemed to be frozen in disbelief – before a great shot on goal. She is working hard to learn new techniques, and her determination in games and her focus in practice are an inspiration to her teammates. Most of all, this athlete’s enthusiasm reminds us of the joys of being a member of a team, learning a new skill, and playing hard at any level of competition. This week’s Athlete of the Week for JV Lacrosse is Chloe Rizzi-Smith!
