Miss Porter’s School is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane R. Johnson M.P.H. to the position of Chief Communications and Public Health Officer. Diane has been serving in a consultant capacity since early June and joined us full-time as of September 1st. She has been an essential part of the COVID19 Steering Committee, as we have made a myriad of decisions to minimize the risks posed by the virus.

A principal at L.J. Enterprises, Inc., she has a client base that includes federal and local government, and national nonprofit organizations. She is the former Vice President, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Providence Health System, an Ascension hospital.
As a Vice President, Health Affairs in the Public and Corporate Affairs practice at Ketchum (DC) Public Relations, she led communications initiatives for multiple clients. She was a key senior lead on several U.S. federal government accounts and different departments within the National Institutes of Health.
Diane serves as adjunct faculty at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Gillings School of Global Public Health (SPH) where she teaches Conceptualizing Public Health Solutions and Understanding Public Health Issues. She also taught Healthcare Strategic Planning and Marketing, Elements of Communications Planning and PR Case Studies at the Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies and the School of Continuing Studies. Diane regularly serves as a grant review chair with the HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration of the District of Columbia’s Department of Health.
Diane graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in Community Health. She earned her master’s in public health in maternal and child health at UNC SPH where she is currently a student in the Executive Doctoral Program in Health Leadership. She is a former W.K. Kellogg Fellow, Emerging Leaders in Public Health, at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill.
