Badminton

This athlete moves with the speed and swiftness of a panther on the badminton court and her serves strike panic in her opponents. To top that, she embodies humility and a fun personality which renders her a popular human on our team. She is a top performer and also an excellent resource in modeling and teaching skills of the game to her peers. Her performance is consistently stellar! Our team won all the games this season by a huge margin, thanks to this person’s team effort as one of the captains. Congratulations to Katherine L. ’23 for this well-deserved recognition!

Field Hockey

This player has been an extremely valuable member of the field hockey team this season. She has very strong dribbling skills and regularly dominates the field on both the offensive and defensive ends. She leads the team with 11 goals and 3 assists and has played as both a forward and midfielder throughout the season. In last week’s game against Choate, this player put Porter’s on the board in the final quarter of the game with a quick shot on goal and then in the overtime period, she went on to score the winning goal in the first 14 seconds to seal the victory. In our most recent games, she also scored important goals, and was the only forward to get the ball in the net in our tie against St. Luke’s and in our game against Pomfret. She is a humble, hard-working, and a positive team player and we are very lucky to have her in our program! This Athlete of the Week award goes to Tyler G. ’23!

Soccer

This week’s Athlete of the Week has been relentless this season. In her debut season, this person has been a difference maker in many of the contests. In every game the defenders look like they need a vacation after dealing with this student’s power, pace and hunger to score goals. Her attitude off of the field is infectious and wants to compete and work tirelessly in whatever she is asked to do. On top of her ability to lead the line, this athlete is unbelievable when defending set pictures, always putting her head and body on the line to save certain goals. This is the unglamorous side that wins games, but she does the glamorous side too. This Varsity Soccer player scored both goals in the teams win this past weekend contributing to the Varsity Soccer program winning their 4th Founders League title in five attempts and their third in a row! This week’s athlete of the week is Lydia P ’24.

Cross Country

This runner is a constant source of positivity, hard work, and leadership on the cross country team. She gives 100% during practice and at races and never gives up during tough workouts or meets. She encourages her teammates and helps everyone reach their goals. It has been really impressive to see her help lead this team. We are stronger and better because of her! This week’s Athlete of the Week is Ava R. ’23.

Crew

This Athlete of the Week is a newcomer to the sport, but didn’t hesitate to get completely involved as a leader, quickly moving her way to the top boats. She is always mindful of others, quick to help, and supports everyone’s participation. Leading up to our regatta, she coordinated boat costumes, arranged group cheers, and took over the Instagram account to show the day in the life of a Porter’s rower. She is a competitor, but above all, a teammate that all others can depend on. Congratulations Marah D. ’22!
