Giving Tuesday

Banner Porters

On this Giving Tuesday, we invite you to directly help Miss Porter’s School offset the significant impact Covid-19 has had on our budget.  In this unique fall, MPS was able to  successfully welcome girls to campus for in-person classes, athletics, performing arts and leadership development. Being in Farmington, and working together, made all the difference for the girls of MPS, and philanthropy allowed school leaders to confidently execute our fall plan.

The financial commitment, over $700K, was considerable and we are asking you to help us prepare for a similar winter effort by making a gift to MPS on Giving Tuesday. All gifts made today, up to $10,000, will be matched dollar for dollar by a group of generous Ancient and parent donors and will help to offset the financial impact of Covid-19.

An incentive to give by December 31.

At the close of the year on December 31, 2020, the time-limited tax provisions in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act will also close. Through the end of the calendar year, cash gifts made to Miss Porter’s can help you take advantage of these tax provisions.

Donors who typically take the standard deduction may now deduct up to $300 ($600 for couples) in qualified charitable contributions of cash to MPS and other qualified charities. Donors who itemize may deduct cash gifts up to 100 percent of their adjusted gross income in 2020—up from 60 percent. Gifts from donor-advised funds and private foundations are not eligible. Consider including Miss Porter’s School in your year-end tax planning discussions with your tax advisor.
