We extend a warm welcome to Cicely Upham, our new director of alumnae and parent engagement! Cicely’s formative years were spent at an all-girls school, so she is particularly excited to support the mission of empowering women to shape a changing world.
Cicely knows that Ancients and parents are eager to support the goals, programming, and students at Porter’s, and she is excited to help facilitate that engagement. By learning more about the interests and experiences of Ancients and parents, she plans to coordinate ample volunteer opportunities that will connect Ancients to campus, current students, tradition and one another in meaningful and fulfilling ways.
“Through my interview process, I learned that Porter’s Ancients and parents are unmatched in their affinity for their school and dedication to its mission,” Cicely said. “I look forward to working at such a mission-driven institution and developing relationships with the wonderful folks at MPS, both on and off campus!”
Cicely is most proud of her demonstrated commitment to threading diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into the fabric of her work. Her background is in fundraising and she has worked to change the narrative surrounding who and what brings value to an institution.
“At MPS, I hope to evaluate how engagement is typically defined and ways we might broaden the scope of what we value and who we celebrate when it comes to our work,” she said.
